About
My name is Daniel Xavier MacRae. I created this blog as a way to communicate ideas about God (call Him by the name that you find the most comfortable). The idea is that I will write about my experiences, feelings, thoughts and beliefs about God and hope that you will share yours too in the comments sections below each post or page. The blogs are more devotional while the pages I will try to make more topical and theological.
I aim to change my mind as I journey. I open to be convinced of new ideas.
Just so you know some background about me. I grew up in a small Western country and I am currently living in a large Eastern country. Obviously, I am being broad simply for the purpose of privacy issues on the internet. Suffice to say that my beliefs are shaped by my experiences. When I was a little boy I knew God loved me. I have always known that but sometimes I have found it hard to love myself. I found that my opinion about myself, even the subconscious opinions, formed what I believed about God. In more recent years, I have tried to change the way I see myself to the way God sees me instead of me trying to see God the way that I see myself. In doing so I am learning to care very little for what people (myself included) say about me. I am becoming more interested only in what my Creator thinks of me.
I call myself Christian. Simply because I follow the way of Yehoshua (יהושע), sometimes called Jesus and rarely called Joshua (although that is the English version of the same name). I am very concerned at some of the thinking of modern Christianity and yet at the same time very excited about what is happening in the world as I believe that Kingdom of God, the heart of the Good News, is advancing. It is advancing even though at times Christians seem to stand in the way of it. It is advancing through many non-Christians who seek the same things that Yehoshua taught, "Love your neighbour!"
I have been following the way of love (in various stages) for over 30 years. At times I have been very religious at other times very spiritual. I think neither is right and they are not wrong in themselves either. They are just seasons. I am convinced that God takes us through seasons trying to strengthen our ties together. I have lived in the West and the East and plan to travel more to observe and admire all the Creator has woven together. I have used the Celtic knot on this blog with three parts to illustrate the dance that I firmly believe God invites us into. We become the fourth part of this divine dance - just as the Celts who knew God believed.
